Couchsurfing is always a great experience. You never know what your going to get. I went from freezing cold night to finding a family with two little kids to stay with after seeing the catlins. ( southern most part of South Island New Zealand. Where you find the penguins, surf, "what are those big sea lions things called um sharks eat them", closed caves and closed waterfall treks, and a bunch of people breaking the rules to go and see these things. Danger falling rock to not enter of course we went and checked out the water fall we skipped out on the cave due to sea and tied was to high. The others went surfing, it was small waves and I have been fortunate to surf in Bali and Australia so I didn't feel the need to surf in freezing water and tiny waves. Instead I captured pics of a wonderful rainbow and did a walk threw the native forest, and waited for more penguins to come out to play. With only a few hours of cold sleeping the night before we arrive at the families house. We walked in and I was so so so .................. ( building the suspense for you) bummed, disgusted is a better word. The place was a disaster I don't think they have ever vacuumed. " yo dad I got in there and started cleaning" dishes from the past 4 months dirty cloths everywhere. Haha it was strange
Back home
I had a big performance when I got back. The owner and flat mate of the house is semi famous. He is a book and song writer for children's books. Most famous book is called wonkey donkey author craig smith. Most kids in nz and Australia know the song and book. Due to terrible weather it was a very small concert. I played a monkey for one of the songs. I didn't make a kid cry so it went well.
This day was also the last day of school and every single kid walked by the park soaking wet. Apparently it is tradition to go take a plunge in your school uni.
Friday
:) purchased my sleeping bag, and mat. No more freezing nights for this one. I used the equivalent as eBay but its called trademe. Found some good deals and can't wait to have them in my hands and around my body.
Walked around town promoting my boot camp and figuring out work schedules to best plan my workout times. Best part about that I also talk to people and hopefully made some new friends all at the same time.
News in nz ... Tornado in Auckland kills few people, very rare.
It's been a freezing last 2 days in fact it snowed on the mountains looks pretty but it is suppose to be the start of summer ( colder then the norm summer)
